Kerimov A.D.

Kerimov Aleksandr Dzhangirovich, Doctor of Law, Professor, Chief Editor of "Matters of Russian and International Law" Journal.

Born in Leningrad.

Graduated from the Faculty of International Law (Department of Public International Law) of Moscow State Institute for Foreign Relations of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1986.

Several times, in 1990-1991, 1992-1993, and 1999, did scientific internship in France at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris, at the Sorbonne, at the National Assembly of France, being a holder of the French government scholarship.

In 1989, defended PhD thesis called "The struggle of the Communist Party for the democratization of France's constitutional mechanism".

In 1999, defended doctoral dissertation called "French parliamentarism: a constitutional and legal study".

In 2000-2002, worked as an adviser to the Analytical Department of the Office of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

Later he took a position of a professor at the Department of State Building and Law of the Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, and a position of a Deputy First Vice-Rector of Russian State University of Trade and Economics of the Ministry for Economic Development and Commerce of the Russian Federation.

Currently works as the chief researcher at the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

He's the author of about 100 research papers, including the monographs: "Parliamentary Law of France", "National Assembly of France: matters of organization and functioning", "French Communist Party and political institutions of France"; and brochures: "Problems of constitutional reform and state building in Russia", "State science: topical problems of theory", etc.

Research interests are quite wide, including theoretical problems of state studies; jurisprudence and political science; constitutional, primarily parliamentary, law of Russia, as well as foreign countries, primarily modern France.

State Counselor of the Russian Federation (3rd class).

Member of the Human Rights Ombudsman's Expert Council.
